Position Overview: The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy-civil (highway and marine) construction projects primarily in North New Jersey, ensuring that work is performed according to project plans, specifications and schedules. The Superintendent is also responsible for managing the project budget, workforce, equipment, and relationships with subcontractors and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate construction projects, including contract plans, specifications, and schedule
- Develops strategies for achieving cost, schedule, and quality objectives
- Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, field personnel, and other staff
- Maintain accurate records of construction activities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and codes
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures
- Resolve issues and conflicts that arise onsite
- Serve as a liaison between leadership, project teams, and other stakeholders
- Solve problems and respond quickly and effectively to changing situations
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors and other stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in construction, including marine construction and heavy highway construction
- Strong knowledge of construction procedures and techniques
- Excellent project management, budget management, and workforce management skills
- Strong problem-solving and relationship management skills
- Solid understanding of safety protocols and public relations
