Position Overview: As an Insurance Defense Attorney, you will represent clients in a variety of legal matters, primarily focusing on insurance defense, general liability, and personal injury claims. You will work closely with senior attorneys and clients to handle all stages of litigation, from pre-suit negotiations to trial preparation.
Responsibilities:
-Represent clients in insurance defense and related litigation matters
-Draft and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery
-Handle depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations
-Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice to clients
-Prepare and try cases in both state and federal court
-Maintain client relationships and provide regular updates on case status
-Collaborate with colleagues to develop effective legal strategies
Qualifications:
-Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
-Active license to practice law in Michigan
-3+ years of experience in insurance defense, general liability, or related areas
-Strong knowledge of Michigan law and court procedures
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to manage a caseload independently and work well within a team
-Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
